Hamdard Study Circle (HSC) has come a long way from its inception in 1992. It has carved out a niche for itself and is considered as one of the premier coaching institute for higher Civil Services Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission. HSC was established by Janab Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb with the active assistance of Mr. Saiyid Hamid, IAS (Retd.) Honorary Secretary of Hamdard Education Society and Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard. The Study Circle was established to provide assistance to the aspirants of Civil Services from the educationally and economically backward minority communities and from other weaker sections of the society who could not afford to pay the exorbitant fees charged by coaching institutes.

Initially started with a modern hostel with partly furnished single seated rooms for each candidate, modern canteen and a spacious library well-stocked with all the relevant material for the UPSC Civil Services Examination has since added a lot of new features for the benefit of the candidates. The selection of candidates for the coaching programme is made through a rigorous process of a written Entrance Test held at 8 centers in different parts of the country followed by Group discussion and Interview at HSC. Periodical tests for monitoring the progress of the candidates, discussion with Academic Associates and rich collection of books, notes and reading material are some of the unique features of HSC. HSC has inter-net facilities accessible to all its students. HSC has an excellent track record. So far it has turned out 300 candidates who are serving the country in responsible positions. The topper of 2009 UPSC Civil Services Examination Dr. Shah Faisel is from Hamdard Study Circle. Quite a large number of its students who could not succeed in the Civil Services examination conducted by UPSC have made it to State Civil Services or to the corporate houses in responsible positions. The success of HSC has not gone unnoticed by the people who see it as model coaching institute. Several coaching institutes for the largest minority group have been established and are being established with the advice and help of Hamdard Study Circle.
